Stanford University is a research and teaching university. Roughly 6,200 undergraduates and approximately 4,350 graduates live on campus that allows for a balancing of residential and academic life. Undergraduate campus housing is assured for four years for freshmen. About 95 % of all undergraduate students registered at the home campus reside in on-campus housing, and 5 % living at Bing Stanford is Washington program or overseas campuses.
This undergraduate housing system includes 78 diverse residential departments, comprising academic-focus, culture and language, plus cross-cultural houses; suites; apartments; as well as traditional residence halls.
