Campuses and Degrees the Leland Stanford Junior University Offers

If speaking about the campuses of the Leland Stanford Junior University, one has to mention that it has rather a large territory – 32 square kilometers. Sometimes it is said that Stafford University possesses the larger territory than any   other university in the world.

When the campuses of the Stanford University were just planned in 1886, Leland Stanford invited the president from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Amasa Walker and  famous Boston landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted in order to receive a professional consultation, and with the help of Charles Coolidge and Henry Richardson the design of the appearance of The Leland Stanford Junior University was created.

However, in 1906, the majority of the construction was damaged by the strong earthquake, and in 1989, the further damages were brought to the Leland Stanford Junior University by the Loma Prieta Earthquake. After this earthquake the global improvement of the Leland Stanford Junior University was started.

Nowadays, Stanford University includes the flowing schools: School of Humanities ad Sciences, school of earth Sciences,  School of Engineering, School of Education, Stanford Law School, Graduate School of Business, Stanford University School of Medicine.

The following degrees are offered by the Leland Stanford Junior University B.S., B.A., B.A.S., M.A., Ph.D., Ed.D, Ed.S, M.B.A., J.S.M., J.S.D., J.D., L.L.M., M.A.T., M.L.S., M.F.A., M.S.M., ENG.

The Leland Stanford Junior University

The Leland Stanford Junior University or Stanford for short is located near the Palo Alto, on the San Francisco Peninsula. Moreover, it operates the Hopkins Marine Station in California, Pacific Groove in Monterey Bay. Stanford University was established by railroad magnate and the governor of California Leland Stanford and Jane Stanford, his wife.

The university was founded in honor of their son, who died in the age of teenager. The parents were dreaming to give to their son marvelous education, however they did not  have time to do it. That is why decided to found the university in order all the other children have an opportunity to be educated there. Once Leland Stanford said that the children of California would be their children.

In 1891, after six difficult years of building and arranging The Leland Stanford Junior University was opened.

In 1906, the earthquake destroyed some buildings of the Stanford University; however, the residents of it did not fall into despair and started to make repairing and rebuilding immediately. The university has its own motto, and if to translate it into English language, it sounds something like “The wind of Freedom Blows”.

Such a difficult fate has the Leland Stanford Junior University; however, still is it famous and competitive among all the others universities.
